Biography

Con más de un siglo de antigüedad, el Archivo Zerkowitz es ya una de las colecciones gráficas Españolas más completas y memorables de fotos antiguas. Creado por Adolfo Zerkowitz y su hijo Alfredo Zerkowitz, pioneros de la fotografía paisajística en España y expertos en explorar nuevos ángulos y puntos de vista. Elevaron la tarjeta postal turística a pequeña obra de arte. Adolfo Zerkowitz nació en Viena en 1884. Mientras estaba fuera de su país por negocios, estalló la Primera Guerra Mundial. En ese momento se encontraba en Marruecos y después de un tiempo pudo llegar a España. La fotografía y el alpinismo siempre le habían fascinado como aficiones, las juntó e hizo su profesión. Fotógrafo de postales y de paisajes. Empezó a hacer postales para la abadía de Montserrat, fotografió gran parte de los pueblos de Catalunya hasta convertirse en uno de los mayores editores de postales del país.
