Biography

Enrique Urbaneja is a Spanish pioneer digital artist from the 90s, since then he has been evolving as a digital creator by learning and exploiting cutting edge digital creation technologies. His skills in computer sciences allowed him to be one of the firsts infographers using programmatic raytracers like POV-Ray. He accounts hundreds of articles in specialized art and digital art magazines, such as Matador, PCMANIA, 3D WORLD, Digital Photography; and worked as director for several TV shows of digital art in Canal+, where he covered digital art events like Imagina and Art Futura among the most relevants. These activities as writer, journalist and digital creator brought him to meet and collaborate with other experimental digital artists from the generation of the 90s like Javier Reyes (Meta Reyes) or Ignacio Vargas (Nextlimit, awarded by the Hollywood Academy with the 'Technical Achievement Award', considered the Oscar for technical excellence), and also renowned artists like Mœbius, who deeply influenced his style until today, or personalities from the world of culture like Alberto Anaut. Enrique Urbaneja is also an insatiable traveler. In addition to having lived abroad over 20 years in his 45, in cities like Buenos Aires, Athens, Istanbul, Munich, Hanoi, or Jakarta, he has travelled by bicycle and motorcycle through dozens of countries on all five continents, among the most striking Brasil, Mozambique, Kenya, Istambul, Kazajistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia or Indonesia. Journeys that still inspire his creations today, in an attempt to recreate and share through images the sensations of so many scenes witnessed often, most of the time, in solitude. Listening to the chronicles of the journeys that inspired each one of his works suddenly transports you to an action book full of anecdotes, wisdom that is only possible to acquire by traveling through paths as abandoned as their last passersby, and experiences that only happen if you open yourself up to the uncertainty of adventure beyond maps and travel guides. A book that could well be already published but continues to be written because he does not want to do it in chapters.
