Hockney 2 courts night, 2020

Dibujo Digital

peintura digital - giclée print - pigmento sobre papel 100% algodón

Peintura digital autoral. Giclée print de serie limitada a 20. (17 disponibles.)

28 x 28 cm

Melle Van Gemerden paints an insider's viewpoint of tennis tournaments: the suspended time of sitting on the sidelines, anticipating for action. Former ATP tenis professional, MVG has toured globally for two decades - both as a professional tennis player and later, professional tennis coach- making appearances in all Grand Slams. His work is a memoir of his tennis career; subtly evoking the diverse atmosphere that makes each tennis court, seemingly the same, unique by its own right. Melle is self-taught in art, and derives his inspiration from the structured Dutch art movements he grew-up seeing abundantly, in his hometown Amsterdam : de stijl, berlage... He is particularly entranced by David Hockney's vibrancy and freedom of approach towards art. Hockney's digital paintings on iPad, later set in giclée prints, enabled MVG a mobile platform to work with, whilst he was working around the globe. MVG's work is mostly authorial, but has taken and is open for commissioned works.
